CONTEXT
CaringBridge is a non-profit that provides a personal health journey, allowing friends and family to come together through any health journey. It allows people to share updates, ask for support, and hear from others going through similar experiences so no one goes through their health journey alone.
We worked on redesigning their homepage, building out an onboarding flow, and exploring new features based on user needs uncovered in our research.
THE GOAL
Focus on the core: better enable the core pillars of communication and activation. Design a mobile and web experience that centers around these core areas.
Simple & intuitive: keep the overall user experience as simple, easy, and intuitive as possible so users are able to engage even while going through their health journeys.
User research
USER Interviews
We conducted 8 user interviews with CaringBridge authors and visitors. Our interviews centered around understanding their experience with CaringBridge as a user, as well as clicking through prototypes to get their reactions and feedback on new designs and features.
Synthesis
We consolidated our research in a heat map that aggregates the feedback across key features along the user flow - this highlighted areas that sparked the most joy for users (e.g., Well Wishes) and areas that still had pain points and frictions (e.g., setting up ways to help).
Final Designs
High-fidelity mock-ups
When designing our high-fidelity mock-ups, we kept the look and feel of CaringBridge’s existing site while making some pushes to be cleaner and more modern. Additionally, we focused on designing for a mobile-first approach given many users share updates on their phone as opposed to using a desktop or laptop.
